Thrive Girls Ranch and Home understands that you want to find help for your young teen girl who struggles with Mood Swings. We’re here to help at our affordable, specialized boarding school program, set in a safe, positive and structured environment near Austin, Texas.    (512) 545-2226

Thrive Girls Ranch & Home knows that parents want to send a teen girl to a safe, monitored environment where she receives personal care, and individual therapies that help heal emotional and mental disorders–whether brought on by trauma, foster care, adoption or family genetics.

And while the young teen girl enrolls our therapeutic boarding school for counseling, treatment, and improving academic/life skills, Thrive Girls Home also helps students struggling with mood swings improve their mental and physical health.

Mood Swings?

Toddlers and young children often appear “moody” and may throw tantrums as they learn to regulate their emotions. While they’re generally a normal part of emotional development, mood swings in children can also be a sign of an underlying mental health disorder, learning disability, or even a physical ailment.

As kids get older, mood swings continue to be a normal part of their development. By the time they enter the preteen years, fluctuations in mood are primarily driven by hormonal changes. These shifts in mood tend to peak during adolescence and gradually stabilize by young adulthood.

What a Teen Girl Eats…

A teen who is eating a diet that’s nutritionally inadequate or not getting enough to eat may experience mood changes in response to fluctuating blood sugar levels and malnourishment.

Digestive disorders that affect the body’s ability to absorb nutrients, such as Celiac disease and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), have also been associated with mood swings. These conditions have also been linked to specific mental health conditions, such as depression.

How a Teen Girls Sleeps…

A girl’s mood can also be heavily influenced by the amount and quality of sleep she gets. A teen who is sleep-deprived (especially when chronic) may experience intense mood fluctuations as well as other psychiatric symptoms.

Thrive Gives Teen Girls Healthy Ways to Heal

That’s why Thrive Girls Home treats Mood Swings.  Therapists address your  girl’s symptoms to determine if the mood swings are symptoms of other mental disorders, or not, and create an individual treatment plan to follow at school, including therapy. We also provide nutritious meals, and healthy exercise and activities. We want each student to experience effective counseling and treatment, as well as improve daily life at school, and back home with family.

We help girls transform into responsible, respectful and gracious young women. The therapeutic residential program in Central Texas features TC Biblical advisors and mentors, a focus on academics, and a milieu of therapeutic activities, including equine therapy. Girls also benefit from vocational training and mentoring, and it is all designed to help girls  transition into a life where they thrive!
